Back to School

Spring break is over and we survived!

Actually, we did more than survive, we had fun!

Alyssa had a few rough moments, but overall, handled herself great! Our plans even got changed at the last minute and she handled the change in an appropriate manner and with the proper emotion.

Our biggest problem seems to be a resurgence of control issues. It is beginning to affect her friendships also. I have not been able to find a reason for her bossiness. It is as bad, if not worse than it was at the very beginning. I am definitely open to ideas.

So, I probably won't be posting much, I need to get caught up on my reading. My peeps have had a busy week!!!

Just a thought....
Could you ask her what she's afraid of that she needs to control her friends so much?

No pearls of wisdom on the control thing--just thought I would mention that I saw your pictures of your daughter on the adoption hair blog and I loved them. I only recognized that it was your picture file because the picture on this blog is also on that one! (just so you don't think I am stalking you; I was looking for beading pics!!!) LOL

Funny that is what we have seen at our house over the past couple of months too. Corazon's biggest issues are about control and bossiness (which has led to a little slippage to sneaking and stealing at home.) We had nipped those in the bud a long time ago. I tried asking her about the bossiness with the kids and she said she was afraid of losing friends. (Progress since she never seemed to care about having real friends until the last few months.) I wonder though if some of the increase in control issues comes from too much freedom. We have gradually given her more choices and "access" to places that were off limits (pantry, upstairs, outside by herself) and I am thinking the freedom might be making her freak out. I have started to pull back on some of these privileges to see if it has any effect. Don't know if that might resonate with anything at your home but for what it is worth...

Best,
Nelda (aka Dia por Dia)
